Trello
Connect a Trello board and Betty joins it as a member. Mention her in a comment on a card, or add her to the card, and she reads the card, builds the Campaign in Better Email, and replies on the card with a link to it.
Anyone who can comment on a connected board can ask Betty for work. They don't need a Better Email account.
If you don't see Trello under Settings, then Betty AI, then Connectors, it isn't turned on for your Organization yet. Contact us to enable it.
Before you start
You will need:
- an admin user in Better Email
- a Trello account that is a member of the boards you want to connect
- boards where members are allowed to invite others, since connecting a board adds Betty to it
Connect a board
- Open Settings, choose Betty AI, then Connectors.
- Open Trello.
- Under Connect a board, click Authorize with Trello.
- Trello asks you to allow Better Email access to your account. Check that Trello shows your own account, then allow it.
- Back in Better Email, the boards your Trello account is a member of are listed. Click Connect next to each board you want Betty on.
Betty is added to the board as a member, and the board appears under Connected boards.
The authorization only lets Better Email list your boards and add Betty to the ones you pick. It lasts an hour. To connect more boards later, authorize again.
A board can only be connected to one Better Email Organization at a time.
Ask Betty for a Campaign
Write the brief on a Trello card: what the Campaign is for, the audience, key messages, dates, and anything else Betty should know. Attach any images you want her to use.
Then do one of these:
- Mention Betty in a comment on the card. Use her Trello username, which the Trello page in Better Email shows. Betty adds a 👀 reaction to the comment when she starts.
- Add Betty to the card as a member. Betty posts a comment saying she has started.
Betty reads the card's title, description, list, labels, due date, members, checklists, comments, and attached images. She builds the Campaign in Better Email and replies on the card with a short summary and a link to it. The reply mentions whoever asked, so Trello notifies them. If you started her with a comment, she also adds a ✅ reaction to it.
To ask for changes, wait for her reply, then mention Betty again in a new comment on the same card. She remembers what she did on that card.
Betty works in Better Email as her own user, with an editor's permissions, not as the person who asked. The Campaign is attributed to the admin who connected the board.
Betty only answers on connected boards. If a card is moved to another board while she is working on it, she doesn't reply there.
Disconnect a board
- Open Settings, choose Betty AI, then Connectors, then Trello.
- Under Connected boards, click Disconnect next to the board and confirm.
Betty leaves the board and stops answering on it. Anything she is working on there stops too. Other connected boards keep working.
Troubleshooting
- The board says "Not listening yet". Setup didn't finish. Click Connect on the board again.
- Better Email says you authorized as Betty's own Trello account. Your browser is signed in to Trello as Betty. Log out of Trello, log in with your own account, and authorize again.
- Better Email says Trello did not accept the authorization. The authorization lasts an hour. Click Authorize with Trello again.
- No boards are listed. Your Trello account isn't a member of any open board. Ask the board's admin to add you in Trello, then authorize again.
- Better Email says Trello would not add Betty to the board. The board doesn't allow members to invite others. Change that in the board's settings in Trello, or ask a board admin to connect it.
- Better Email says the board is already connected to another Organization. Someone in another Better Email Organization connected it. They need to disconnect it first.
- Betty doesn't react to a comment. Check that the board is listed under Connected boards and that the comment uses Betty's exact Trello username.
@cardand@boarddon't count as asking Betty.
