monday.com
Add Betty to monday.com as an agent, and she works on your boards like a teammate. Assign her to an item, or @mention her in an update on it, and she reads the item and its discussion, builds the Campaign in Better Email, and replies on the item with a link to it.
Anyone who can reach a board Betty works on can assign her, so connecting monday.com authorizes your whole Organization. They don't need a Better Email account.
If you don't see monday.com under Settings, then Betty AI, then Connectors, it isn't turned on for your Organization yet. Contact us to enable it.
Before you start
You will need:
- an admin user in Better Email
- a monday.com account that can add agents to your account and give them access to boards
1. Create the Betty agent in monday.com
- In Better Email, open Settings, choose Betty AI, then Connectors, and open monday.com. Copy the URL under Webhook URL to paste into monday.
- In monday.com, open Agents, then Bring your agent, then Other.
- Name the agent "Betty" and choose Yes so it can be triggered.
- Paste the webhook URL from Better Email.
- monday.com now shows an API token and a signing secret. It shows them only once. Keep the page open for the next step, and store both in a password manager in case you need to reconnect later.
2. Connect monday.com in Better Email
- On the monday.com page in Better Email, paste the token into API token and the secret into Signing secret.
- Optionally, give the connection a name, for example the board it is for.
- Click Connect.
3. Give Betty access to your boards
Betty also needs access to each board she should work on.
- In monday.com, open Manage agents, then Betty.
- Add each board under her access.
Without access to a board, monday.com refuses to assign her there.
Then assign Betty to any item. monday.com tells Better Email which agent she is on that first assignment, and setup finishes. Until then, the Connection card says she is waiting for her first assignment.
Ask Betty for a Campaign
Write the brief on a monday.com item: what the Campaign is for, the audience, key messages, dates, and anything else Betty should know. Add any images you want her to use to the item or its updates.
Then do one of these:
- Assign Betty to the item. She does what the item asks for.
- @mention Betty in an update on the item. She does what the update asks for.
Betty reads the item's name, board, group, column values, and the whole update discussion, including replies. She also looks at the newest images on the item and in its updates, and can place them in the Campaign.
She replies in an update on the item, threaded under the update that mentioned her. The reply says what she built, lists what's in it, and points out anything to check before it goes out, such as placeholder images or copy she wrote herself. It ends with Open the campaign in Better Email.
If the board has a status column with the labels Working on it, Done, and Stuck, Betty sets it as she goes: Working on it when she starts, Done when the Campaign is ready, and Stuck if she couldn't finish. Boards without those labels keep their status.
If something in the brief is unclear, Betty asks a question in her reply. Answer in a reply and @mention her, and she carries on.
To ask for changes, @mention Betty again on the same item. She revises the Campaign she built for it, not a new one. She works on one request per item at a time, so wait for her reply before asking again.
Betty works in Better Email as her own user, with an editor's permissions, not as the person who asked. Her Campaigns land in the Organization that connected monday.com.
Change the credentials
monday.com issues a new signing secret whenever the agent's webhook URL changes. When that happens, paste the new API token and signing secret under Re-enter credentials and click Save.
Disconnect monday.com
- Open the monday.com page under Settings, then Betty AI, then Connectors.
- Click Disconnect and confirm.
This covers every board the agent works on, not just one. Betty stops picking up items on all of them, and anything she is working on right now stops. The agent stays in monday.com.
To reconnect, paste the agent's API token and signing secret again. If you didn't keep them, delete the Betty agent in monday.com and follow the setup steps again to create a new one.
Troubleshooting
- Assigning Betty is refused with a message about subitems. Betty doesn't have access to that board. Add it under Manage agents, then Betty in monday.com.
- Betty doesn't answer at all. The signing secret may be out of date, for example after the webhook URL changed in monday.com. Paste the current API token and signing secret under Re-enter credentials.
- The connection says credentials are missing. Re-enter the API token and signing secret before assigning Betty anything.
- Betty replies that she could not start. The reply includes the reason. If it says the item is not readable by the agent, give Betty access to the board.
- Betty says she is still working on the last request. Wait for her reply, then ask again.
- The status column doesn't change. The board's status column needs the exact labels Working on it, Done, and Stuck.
