We've completely redesigned the template editor — the tool template developers use to build and maintain email templates in Better Email.

Modern code editor​

The code editing experience has been rebuilt with a professional-grade editor featuring a dark theme, syntax highlighting, and proper line wrapping. Writing HTML and Liquid code is now significantly more comfortable, especially for longer editing sessions.

Liquid tags highlighted in orange​

Liquid template tags now stand out visually in the editor with distinct orange highlighting. This makes it much easier to spot dynamic content, conditionals, and variables at a glance — especially in templates with a mix of HTML and Liquid logic.

Smarter component selection​

Components are now accessible through a streamlined dropdown instead of the previous panel layout. Switching between components is faster and leaves more screen real estate for the code editor itself.

Preview in a separate window​

You can now pop out the email preview into its own window. This is especially useful if you have multiple monitors — keep the code on one screen and the live preview on another.

Liquid key context​

The editor is now aware of the Liquid keys and variables available in your template. This helps reduce typos and makes it easier to work with complex templates that use many custom variables.

You can now export your emails from Better Email straight into Agillic with a single click. Design your email in Better Email, connect your Agillic account, and push the finished result directly into the platform — ready to be used in your campaigns.

This joins our existing integrations with HubSpot, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Klaviyo, Customer.io, and others.

We're excited to introduce Betty, an AI-powered assistant built right into the Better Email editor.

Chat with Betty while you build​

Betty lives in a new chat sidebar next to the email editor. You can ask her to write copy, rephrase a paragraph, adjust the tone of a headline, or brainstorm subject lines — all without leaving the editor. She works on the email you have open and understands which components and settings are available.

Edit components with natural language​

Instead of manually tweaking settings or writing content from scratch, you can tell Betty what you want and she'll make the changes for you. Ask her to "make the hero image darker" or "add a second product row" and she'll update the email directly.

Web search and brand import​

Betty can search the web for inspiration and reference material. She can also crawl a URL you provide — such as your company's website or a landing page — and pull in brand assets, colors, and content to use in your email.

Image upload​

You can upload images directly through the chat. Betty will place them in the right component and make sure they're properly sized for email.

Stop generation at any time​

If Betty starts heading in the wrong direction, you can stop her mid-response and redirect. No need to wait for a full answer before course-correcting.

Other fixes and improvements:

• Chat messages are persisted as drafts, so you won't lose what you were typing if you navigate away
• Image metadata is automatically attached for better context
• Fixed various issues with tool call UI rendering

A collection of improvements we've shipped over the summer to make the email building experience smoother and faster.

Improved image processing​

Our image resizing pipeline has been rebuilt from the ground up. Images are now processed faster and with better quality, so what you see in the preview is closer to what lands in the inbox.

Better drag & drop in the editor​

We've redesigned the hover states and drop zones in the email editor. When you drag a component, the target areas are now more visible and responsive, making it much easier to rearrange blocks without accidentally dropping them in the wrong spot.

Configurable default items for repeatables​

Template developers can now set how many items a repeatable component shows by default when a new email is created. This is useful for components like product grids or article lists where you want editors to start with a sensible number of items rather than a single one.

Rich text editor improvements​

The inline text editor has received a round of usability improvements, including better cursor behavior and more reliable formatting controls.

Other fixes and improvements:

• Fixed an issue with the demo modal not closing properly
• Improved PDF/PNG download reliability
• Fixed feed permission handling

You can now define subjectline and Preview to be shown in the email, and automatically exported to your email system.

Then design how it should look in the email.

And then liquid tags you defined will show up in your export.

Trash auto-empty​

Deleted emails will be permanently deleted after 14 days, to keep everything nice and tidy, without you lifting a finger.

Folder with sub folders​

All accounts can now create folders with sub-folders. This will help you organize and structure your email campaigns. Admins can restrict access to any folder for specific users.

A round of quality-of-life improvements for the template editor and the export flow.

Code beautify​

The template editor now has a one-click code formatting button that cleans up your HTML and Liquid code — fixing indentation, line breaks, and spacing in an instant. You can also trigger it with Cmd+Shift+P (Mac) or Ctrl+Shift+P (Windows).

Batch delete emails​

Need to clean up your workspace? You can now select multiple emails from the overview and delete them all at once, instead of removing them one by one.

Minify HTML on export​

There's a new integration setting that automatically minifies the exported HTML. Minification strips unnecessary whitespace, comments, and formatting from the output, reducing file size and helping emails load faster in your subscribers' inboxes.

Improved custom feeds​

We've expanded custom feed support with better handling of additional XML formats and feed types. If you use data feeds to populate dynamic content in your emails, you should see fewer parsing issues and broader compatibility.

Other fixes and improvements:

• Added a keyboard shortcut to toggle between code and preview modes in the editor
• Fixed an issue where long email names could overflow in the overview
• Fixed a dropzone bug in the editor
• Corrected modal z-index layering issues

PDF/PNG download​

You now have the possibility to download your email as a PDF/PNG, making it easier to share your campaign, without sending HTML or test emails from your ESP.

Copy paste got even better​

You remember when you could not copying and pasting text from a word document, without also pasting the styling and font - Yes? We fixed that! When you paste anything into a text-field in Better, the text will be cleaned, except links.

Clone emails​

You can now clone your email in an instant, and view it straight away.

We've shipped a series of improvements to our Salesforce Marketing Cloud integration, making it easier to manage your emails across Content Builder.

Folder and category support​

When exporting emails to SFMC, you can now choose which Content Builder folder or category to place them in. No more manually reorganizing assets after every export — just pick the right destination and your email lands exactly where it belongs.

Auto-generate plain text​

A new integration setting lets you automatically generate a plain-text version of your email from the HTML when exporting to SFMC. This saves you from having to maintain a separate plain-text version manually, while making sure every campaign has a proper text fallback.

Custom link attribute defaults​

You can now set default values on custom link tracking attributes in the rich text editor. If your organization uses the same tracking parameters across most links, this saves time and reduces errors.

Other fixes and improvements:

• Fixed character encoding issues when exporting emails to SFMC
• SFMC now creates a new asset when the original can no longer be found, instead of failing silently
• Improved error handling and logging for SFMC asset operations

AI translation​

You now have the possibility to translate your emails into any language. We made sure that you have full control of which part of the email that is translated.

Copy paste cleaner​

You can now copy big chunks of text and Better Email will clean the formatting so no surprises will happen. It is now even faster copy pasting from a word document without ever worrying about also copying the formatting.

Download email as PDF​

It is now possible to download your email as a PDF or an image, making it easy to share.
