Performance data from Bloomreach

Better Email can show how the emails you build perform after they are sent from Bloomreach Engagement: sends, deliveries, opens, clicks, bounces, unsubscribes, spam complaints, the most-clicked links, and how opens and clicks develop over the first week after a send.

This guide covers how to switch it on. It assumes you have already connected Bloomreach to Better Email.

For what the finished result looks like and how to read it, see Campaign performance.

Your customer data stays in Bloomreach

Better Email never receives, processes, or stores customer-level data. No email addresses, no customer IDs, no per-recipient activity.

Better Email asks Bloomreach for campaign-level totals: counts per campaign and status, clicks per link, and opens and clicks per hour. Bloomreach adds them up and returns only the numbers. The per-customer activity behind them stays in your project.

Nothing to set up inside Bloomreach

Bloomreach already records every send, delivery, open and click as campaign events. Better Email counts those events on the fly, so there are no reports to build and nothing extra to grant. The connection you made for syncing is enough.

Enable performance data in Better Email

  1. Open your Bloomreach integration in Better Email.
  2. Turn on Sync performance data.
  3. Save the integration.

Better Email refreshes performance data about once an hour, for each Destination's project.

If Sync performance data isn't on the integration, performance data isn't switched on for your workspace yet. Contact us to enable it.

How campaigns are matched

Better Email matches a Bloomreach campaign to the Campaign you built by name: the email campaign's name in Bloomreach is compared with the name of the Better Email Campaign synced to that integration.

Campaigns created by Better Email are named after the Campaign, and every sync writes the name again, so they match by construction. If someone renames the campaign in Bloomreach, its numbers stop showing until the next sync puts the name back.

Good to know

  • Better Email looks at campaigns that started sending in the last 30 days. A campaign that started earlier isn't picked up.
  • Counts for a campaign keep refreshing while it is inside that window, so opens and clicks that arrive days after a send are still counted.
  • Opens and clicks come as both totals and unique customers.
  • Delivered, bounces, unsubscribes and spam complaints are counted from Bloomreach's own delivery statuses.
  • The engagement timeline covers the first 7 days after each send, in 3-hour intervals. The top-links list shows up to 50 links.
  • Bloomreach answers one of these questions every few seconds per account. Totals refresh for every campaign each hour. Links and timelines refresh for 10 campaigns at a time, newest first, so with many recent campaigns some of them update every few hours.
  • Performance data uses the same Bloomreach connection as syncing, so it stops when that connection ends. Reconnect the integration to resume.

Troubleshooting

No performance data at all. Check that Sync performance data is enabled on the integration and that the integration is still connected. If the 30-day connection has ended, click Reconnect on the integration, and the next hourly refresh picks it up.

A sent campaign shows no performance. The Bloomreach campaign's name probably differs from the Better Email Campaign's name. See How campaigns are matched. If the names match, check in Bloomreach that the campaign actually sent: a campaign that was started but sent nothing has no events to count.

Numbers differ slightly from Bloomreach's own reports. Opens and clicks keep arriving after a send, and the two systems refresh at different moments. Better Email refreshes hourly.
